You don’t have to settle for messy paints or stressful wallpapering to decorate an empty wall. Instead, you can enjoy the stylish look and easy installation of custom wall decals or vinyl letters. This makes it simple to decorate a home, office or place of business. If you want a wall display that will be the envy of your customers, friends or employees, then you need to know what the difference is between custom wall decals and vinyl lettering. These two have a lot of similarities, but they also have some important differences. We’re going to look at what makes them different from one another below.

Vinyl Lettering

In order to create vinyl lettering, we take coloured vinyl material sheets that have very adhesive backs. The colour on the vinyl isn’t actually printed onto the materials. Instead, the rolls themselves are made in different colours. Since we are using solid colour materials, that means you don’t get any colour gradients or several colours on a single letter. Because we print individual letters, that allows you to personalize where you want them to go on the wall.

Varied Uses

You can use vinyl lettering to provide information that you think is important to display in your home or place of business. Slogans, directories or simple decorations are all good uses for this adhesive lettering. The adhesive is so strong and versatile that you can place it on just about any wood, glass or plastic surface.
You can use them on doors to serve as room numbers or to identify the room. They can be used to show where fire extinguishers and exits are or to act as warning signs. If you are selling food, you can put them on your storefront to detail your menu. Other businesses can place them in the storefront to advertise sales and specials. The adhesive is strong enough to be used on company vehicles, but you should know that exposure to sunlight and other weathering conditions will cause the vinyl to deteriorate quicker than if it was being used inside.
Many of our customers use them for wall scripts in their homes, which allow them to display family photos or create quotes. You can use this same lettering to put kids’ names in their bedroom or nursery or to celebrate holidays and special occasions. Vinyl lettering is a great way for homes and businesses to meet their signage needs.

Personalized Signage

We offer a wide range of personalised signage tools that lets you choose from about 70 fonts and more than 30 colours to create the perfect design. If you have a design already created, then we can custom print that for you. Certain designs, such as those with intricate or very thin strokes, may not be able to be printed on our machines, since cutting letters too thin can make them unmanageable. How much the letters cost for your order will depend on how many of them you order, what colours are used and how large they are.

Installing Vinyl Lettering

All the vinyl lettering we sell comes pre-masked, and that means that all the letters are stuck to a masking tape that is only somewhat adhesive. This allows you to place on your letters quickly and easily, and you won’t have to place them individually. Just put the vinyl in place on the wall where you want it, then take off the backing slowly to expose the adhesive. You would do best to pick a wall that isn’t porous and that doesn’t have a raised texture to it. After you remove the is backing, the masking tape will be exposed, and you can easily apply the lettering.
After you have applied the lettering, it should not lose its adhesiveness unless you try to remove it. It should last for eight years or more, and if you want to remove it, then you should use a flat edge. It’s best to use one with hard rubber so that you don’t damage the wall when you remove the lettering. You may have some leftover adhesive on your wall, which can be removed with a little water and a soft cloth. You can use cleaning solution instead of water, if you like. The residue should be able to be removed quickly this way.
Our lettering has been carefully crafted so that there are no paint chips taken off and so that your wall is not damaged when you remove the lettering. The vinyl lettering is designed to be used once only. It can’t be repositioned after you place it.

Wall Decals

You can make any room or office more interesting with a well-placed wall decal. These decorative products are ideal for displays, decoration and logo placement. They have a versatile design and are sold in many sizes and shapes. We even sell wall-sized decals. They are perfect for decorating any room, whether it is a business office or a kid’s playroom.
The decals are crafted from a flexible vinyl, and we will be printing your design directly onto the vinyl. They can be printed on any colour and with any design, so there is no limit to what you can create with them. The designed can be cut into a rectangle, which is the standard cut we offer. Or we can cut along the edge of the design you have come up with, which is referred to as a halo cut, since it leaves a small border around the design. We can also cut exactly around the design in a contour cut.
The design is printed out on opaque sheets, and that means that we can’t cut out individual letters. The letters in your design will be placed onto a background over a continuous sheet. We cannot make the decals transparent or clear, since the material we use is white by default.

Using Decals Creatively

Decals are excellent for advertising business products, and if your decal is well placed and attractive, it can help to bring in more customers. You can use these in board rooms, conference areas, on menus, as directional signs and as room identifiers. Using prepositional decal, you can easily decorate a kid’s room or make the place more festive for a birthday party, holiday or other special occasions. Wall decals are excellent decoration choices for Christmas, Easter and other big events.

Installing the Decals

Placing a decal onto a wall is quick and simple. Just position it over the wall in the place you would like it. It’s best to use a non-porous, smooth wall. Then peel off the backing on the decal and apply some pressure to the decal against the wall. If you have secured it properly, it should last there for five years or more. The adhesive we use for decals is low-tac adhesive, and that allows you to reposition the decal as many times as you like.
It’s best if you only apply decals indoors, such that limits how much humidity they will be exposed to. If the decal comes into contact with moisture too much, then the adhesive may fail over time.
As with vinyl lettering, decals have limitless applications and are useful in both home and work environments.

Which One Is Right for You?

The one you go with should depend primarily on what kind of signage you want to display. If you don’t want any background on the lettering, then you ought to go with vinyl lettering. If you want something that can be reapplied and moved around later on, then decals are going to be best for you.
